I can’t believe it’s been 10 years! Today marks a decade since I have kept a real live human alive. My son turned 10 years old today. That’s worth celebrating even more so if you know me!
Color me shocked when during what should have been a routine prenatal visit I had a conversation that went like this:
Doc: What are you doing the rest of today?
Me: Going to work
Doc: No, you’re having a baby.
Me: I’m on my lunch break!
Clearly he did not know me, I’m a planner and I was not due until December 19, 2007. Turns out I did not get how the whole parenthood thing works because I did indeed have a baby (I was able to stall for about 18 hours).
While everyone was busy putting out Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday deals (Geez who knew Thanksgiving would become so commercialized considering it’s murderous origins?), I was luxuriating in my last few days before I became the mom of a tween.
Why do you care? Well, this year I decided rather than partake in the mass hysteria of Black Friday offerings, I would do something to celebrate my biggest accomplishment, (not becoming a mom, any moron without working knowledge of birth control can do that) keeping a human alive, healthy and happy for 10 whole years!
